The 'Myrtle' race of Yellow-rumped Warbler is abundant and widespread in North America. It breeds throughout the boreal forests of Canada, Alaska and north-eastern United States. In winter, it is abundant in the Atlantic and Gulf states and coastal California and Oregon, where it is a familiar suburban bird.
